Why is fashion increasingly attracted to the Metaverse?

After New York, London, Milan and Paris, the last fashion week took place in Decentraland, the new fashion capital.

The virtual fashion market is conquering an increasingly important space and the last frontier is present in purely digital clothing and accessories. This is the Metaverse Fashion Week, which was born in the decay of the traditional Fashion Weeks and lasted four days, from 24 to 27 March 2022.

And If anyone has doubts about the developments of the world Metaverse just think that beyond the great success of the public, the festival officially gives appointment also next year. In fact, the Digital Fashion Week 2023 has been already confirmed.

The future is already written. the fashion week in Metaverse will certainly impose itself in the coming years as a flagship event alongside the traditional live editions.

Digital Fashion begins to be addictive for many big fashion names, there is no doubt about it. According to a study by Morgan Stanley, the Metaverse could also represent 10% of the luxury market in 2030, equal to 50 billion dollars.

What happened during Fashion Week?

The Metaverse Fashion Week has collected a series of excellent names: from Dolce & Gabbana to Hugo Boss, from Tommy Hilfiger to Mango, up to Dundas and Philipp Plein.

Every item (including clothes, shoes, accessories) is certified by NFT, which attests to their uniqueness, and payments are possible thanks to cryptocurrencies. As we mentioned, the shows and events took place in Decentraland, a decentralized platform based on the Ethereum blockchain in which subscribers, through their avatars, can participate in events, but also buy and wear 'clothes in the virtual version.

The most interesting aspect, as always, is the economic one: virtual fashion allows you to shorten the entire production chain, reducing costs and minimizing risks.

Some consider it a form of sustainable fashion because it does not use raw materials that have an impact on the planet: animal skins, fur, cotton harvest or dying processes

The Digital Fashion Week is so also called to gather the consensus of the generation of young people, attentive to sustainability and increasingly selective purchases. In this sense, the event represents an incentive for fashion brands to invent the most original and technological solutions to put their creativity in the field without affecting the environment.
